Description
this document is a formal request from the US war dpt generals office dated august 1865 asking a commanding officer to submit missing official paperwork for deceased soldiers, private James canfilce 16th regiment us Calvary volunteers, missing records for private Philips dies 4/1864 and sergeant Morris brichey 6/1864 and there are more names, by 8/1865 the civil war had effectively ended and the war dept was processing massive backlog of admin records, records indicate that many men form the 16th Illinois calvary were captured and including William phillips held as prisoners, he is recorded as having died there. see pics the document looks good as you can see in pictures
